We have two items for your convenience, one from AJ’s Fine Foods and one from Hacienda del Sol.
From 5/18 through 6/2, take advantage of AJ’s special savings on: USDA Prime Top Sirloin Steaks for only $7.99/lb, $5.00 off the usual price, and USDA Prime Steak or Chicken Kabobs for only $6.99/lb assembled with fresh vegetables from AJ’s Farmer’s market. And don’t forget to ask for a spice rub or marinade to accent your dish. Ask Kevin or any of the wine cellar staff about their Cortenova Primitivo red wine to pair with any of the above dishes. Did you know that the Primitivo grape is from Puglia, Italy and a cousin of the Zinfandel? The wine offers deep dark fruits with some spice and moderate tannins…..great match for spiced steak or chicken.
If you are out on the town, tonight, try Hacienda del Sol. Christoffe, the wine sommelier at The Grill, offers the following food and wine pairing suggestion: Try the Australian Rack of Lamb, prepared by the chef with a lemon-mint marinade, accessorized with goat cheese and chive mashed potatoes and spring vegetables. Christoffe suggests pairing the dish with the 2007 Roessler Blue Jay Anderson Valley Pinot Noir. The wine tasting notes from the vintner initially reveal a deep nose of dark fruit along with sweet oak which yield aromas of forest floor and mushroom. The mouthfeel is more of a blend of dark and red fruits with rich tannins with flavors of mushroom, earth, chocolate and smoke. The finish is long and textured.
