Australia Mollydooker owner Sparky Marquis “Shakes” Up His Velvet Glove

You might think that drinking wine is simply a process of opening the bottle and/or decanting and pouring into a glass.  But Mollydooker owner Sparky Marquis of McLaren Vale would take issue with that.  He’s developed a unique approach to aerating his wines and it really works!  During a visit to Tucson and a special wine dinner hosted by Anthony’s in the Catalinas last winter, I caught up with Sparky (Sarah was back home with the kids) for a short lesson in how to do the “Mollydooker shake” using Sparky’s top wine, the Velvet Glove.

This wine is simply gorgeous, made of 100% Shiraz and aged in new oak.  There’s a reason why it’s called Velvet Glove.  There’s simply no Australian wine I’ve tasted with the voluptuous and silky flavor profile of this wine…….it’s mind boggling! The wine hypnotizes you wave after wave of rich and creamy black fruit, chocolate, meat and flowers.  The tannins are sweet and even the 15.5% alcohol is seemlessly integrated………….WOW!!
