What Do You Do When You Get A Case of the “Can’t Help Its?”

Thursday, June 2nd, 2011

On My MindWe’ve all been there, most of us many times.  You, me and yes…………even you in the back row who’s shaking your head no!  Inundated by relentless waves of advertisements offering 10%, 20% or more off the product or the latest greatest vintage of a lifetime, your resistance finally breaks and bang……….you pull the trigger and load up.

No less than three times since the turn of century have we been told that Bordeaux has released the vintage of the decade, the century, perhaps all time:  2000, 2005 and now 2009.  Innudated by distributors and wine journalists, that you must load up, it's a challenge to tune out the hype.

Since the financial crisis hit, retailers have resorted to sale tactics not seen in my lifetime, flashing neon sign deals that seem just too good to ignore.  It makes no difference whether it’s clothing, household products, consumer durables or nondurables, food or yes………wine.
