Interest in Glass Closure System Heats Up

Wine NewsIt was announced recently that world renown Australian wine producer, Penfolds, is trialing a new glass closure system on its famed 2006 Grange; this after German wine producer Schloss Vollrads and an Italian biodynamic producer have converted some of their bottle closures. It is hoped that the new system will eliminate the risk of TCA through traditional corks while still allowing the wine to age normally. Penfolds went on the state that they are in the very early stages of the trial and will be in better position to make a final decision on the closure system in a couple of years.

Much is written about the necessity of proper storage of wine and admittedly, it can become a little overwhelming, especially if you are uncertain as to where to safeguard the investment.  First and foremost, let’s dispel the notion that you have be an advanced wine collector to understand the ins and outs of storage.  You don’t have to be an expert chef to know how to store milk or cheese.   That being said, there are few helpful tips in preserving the quality and life of your collection.
